Marotta has developed magnetically latching, miniature valves designed for applications where power is limited or coil heating is undesirable. This series can also be used where continuous power may not be available.
The MV602L is the smallest, most power efficient miniature latch valve on the market today.
Composed of stainless steel, all welded construction and a plastic seat, the Marotta Miniature Magnetic Latching Valves meet the demands for high reliability, tight leakage and quick response. Handles pressure ranges from 0 – 4500 psig.
SPACE TECHNOLOGY 5: The MV602L was derived from Marotta’s Cold Gas Microthruster (CGMT) which was developed for the NASA Space Technology 5 mission (ST5), part of the New Millennium program. The CGMT is a latching solenoid valve with a thruster divergent at the outlet.
LISA PATHFINDER: The MV602L miniature latch technology is a key component of the Cold Gas Micro-Propulsion system on the LISA Pathfinder satellite.
ADM-AEOLUS: The MV602L was subsequently incorporated into the LIDAR system on the ADM-Aeolus mission, where it was adapted for use in the Aeolus Oxygen Rated In-Situ Cleaning System.
Marotta’s miniature high pressure non-latching solenoid valve delivers maximum performance while requiring minimal power, physical envelope and weight. The highly optimized all-welded design can be used in a wide variety of applications, from Xenon Feed Systems to Gaseous Oxygen Systems and MIcro Propulsion Systems.
The flight-qualified SPV187 Miniature Solenoid Valve series has been specifically developed for satellite in-space propulsion applications. With its low power requirement, minimal envelope and low mass, the SPV187 is ideal for all classes of platforms, from large telecoms to small science satellites. Applications include Xenon feed systems and micro propulsion systems.
The two configurations of the SPV187 shown are flight qualified and baselined with the Snecma PP1350 Hall Effect Thruster.
The SPV 187 was initially qualified on the Xenon Flow Controller (XFC) of the Snecma PPS1350 Hall Effect Thruster flown on the highly successful SMART-1 mission.
The SPV187 combined with Marotta’s Multi-Function Valve, was also a key component of the proportional XFC which provided the critical drag compensation capability that enabled the GOCE satellite’s mission to exceed expectations.
Most recently the SPV187 features in the XFC of the Alphasat platform, Europe’s largest and most sophisticated telecom satellite.
