MONTVILLE, NJ – Marotta Controls is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control as one of its 2013 small business suppliers of the year. This prestigious award is in recognition of Marotta Controls’ commitment and dedication to supporting the U.S Army’s M299 Launcher Modernization program with its innovative Power Conditioning Unit (PCU).
Each year Lockheed Martin selects small businesses that have consistently provided outstanding support, products and services during the past year.
Marotta Controls contributed to the success of the M299 Modernization program by overcoming technical challenges in order to develop a power conditioning solution. Challenges included dissipating thermal energy, maximizing system efficiency, and meeting stringent electrical requirements within low weight and size constraints. Marotta played an integral part in the design activities of the M299 PCU, applied its unique engineering skills and processes to the program, and exercised a “clean sheet” engineering approach which enabled the flexibility to innovate and develop an outstanding technical solution.
In addition, Marotta worked effectively with the Lockheed Martin team during all phases of development, supported the rigorous schedule and demonstrated exceptional workmanship and quality controls.
“Our supplier teammates play a critical role in enabling us to deliver quality products on time to our customers,” said Frank St John, Tactical Missiles/Combat Maneuver Systems vice president at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “Our customers demand the best from us and our suppliers ensure we provide systems that enable them to meet their requirements.”
“We are honored to be recognized with this prestigious award by one of the best in the worldwide defense industry, Lockheed Martin,” said Michael Leahan, senior vice president and chief sales officer of Marotta Controls. “As we’ve grown our business over the years we’ve increasingly recognized the importance of putting our customer’s success at the top of our agenda in everything we do. Every person throughout our organization understands the impact and importance of delivering world-class technology and service to ensure the success of each and every one of our customers. Our dedication to Lockheed Martin’s success with the M299 program is a reflection of this commitment. We are very proud to receive this honor.”
Marotta Controls has been developing technology to solve power conversion problems for many years, and has incorporated this technology into a variety of other electronic control solutions for pneumatic weapon ejection, missile seeker cooling, electronic control of motor pumps on military aircraft and controls for sonobuoy launching systems on maritime patrol aircraft.
