Custom Engineering and Designs, Inc. (CEDI) is a small dynamic subsidiary of Marotta Controls that has supported the specialized needs of the US Government for over 65 years. Our skilled staff and team environment allows us the flexibility to react quickly and appropriately to meet the delicate needs of our customers. CEDI has earned a reputation for functional designs that are manufactured to high quality standards while meeting budget and delivery constraints.
Product Development
CEDI is a creative resource for the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and electronic systems. Hybrid products and systems are developed which integrate several technologies to enhance performance, reduce weight or size, or conserve energy. The combining of commercially available products with new technologies can often fulfill a need for a specialized customer requirement in the shortest time at optimal cost.
When practical, CEDI modifies original equipment to meet our customer's requirements. These modifications permit the standard product to perform functions not previously available from the product as originally manufactured. There are times, however, when new product development is the only viable approach.
Replica / Reverse Engineering and Manufacture
CEDI continues to apply its technical skills and broad materials and product knowledge to projects that require accurate and faithful reproduction of mechanical products. In every case, the standard product is reproduced of materials that are identical to the original item or matched with available substitutes that closely approximate the original materials.
Concealments
CEDI manufactures a range of custom products for passive concealment. The application and environment for these products is varied with respect to size and mobility. Although most objects are relatively small in size, CEDI has the capability to work with larger, vehicle-sized equipment.
Technical / Industry Studies, Analysis and Technical Support
CEDI performs special studies and maintains current databases, samples and technical support to our customers in all the specific product and technology areas referenced.
Manufacturing
Manufacturing components and products to the customer's requirements can be accomplished at CEDI. Our in-house manufacturing skills include CNC and manual machining, fabrication center, and wood shop. These capabilities include manufacturing from a variety of materials, including metals, plastics, composites and textiles. Manufacture of these parts or products may be for a single deliverable item, repetitive, production or on a "job lot" basis.
Purchasing / Acquisition Services
CEDI discretely and efficiently processes requests to purchase either known products or materials, or performs market or product definition studies to comply with requirements.
Manufacturing Support
CEDI will supply personnel and facilities to install, operate and maintain intermittently used sponsor equipment or processes. This service assures quick, cost effective availability of the equipment to meet emergency or surge needs.
Repair and Maintenance
CEDI provides customers with repair or maintenance of all products of our design and manufacture. Additionally, we offer these services for mechanical and electronic products manufactured by others.
